Diomie Blackwell, of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty on Monday, Oct. 4, to one count of conspiracy to engage in a pattern of racketeering activity, according to Leonard Boyle, acting United States attorney for the District of Connecticut.
The US Attorney's Office said Blackwell was a member of the "Greene Homes Boyz" gang based in the Charles F. Greene Homes Housing Complex in Bridgeport’s North End.
The gang members and associates distributed heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, and Percocet pills; committed numerous acts of violence against rival gang members and other individuals, and celebrated their criminal conduct on social media websites such as Facebook and YouTube, Boyle said.
Boyle said members of the gang have distributed drugs and committed acts of violence against rival gang members.
Through his guilty plea, Blackwell admitted that he and an associate shot and attempted to kill a member or associate of a rival gang on Feb. 7, 2018.
On Jan. 27, 2020, he and associates attempted to kill members and associates of another rival gang in an afternoon shooting in front of a courthouse in Bridgeport, located at 172 Golden Hill Street, Boyle said.
Bridgeport Police responded and found that four victims had been shot while sitting inside of a car. One victim was left paralyzed, and another suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The vehicle reportedly had about 23 entry bullet holes in the driver's side and windshield area.
Blackwell is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, Dec. 28. He has been detained since Aug. 6 of 2020.
